What is flushing airport?

Flushing Airport was a public airport located in Flushing, Queens, New York City. It was originally established in 1927 as Speed's Airport, and later renamed to Flushing Airport in 1947. The airport was primarily used for general aviation and private aircraft operations.

Flushing Airport had two asphalt runways, with the longest being 3,103 feet in length. The airport also had a terminal building and various hangars for aircraft storage.

The airport closed in 1984 and the land was eventually redeveloped into residential and commercial properties. Today, there is no active airport in Flushing, with the closest airports being LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport.
